Loading Dock Equipment

Al Kuhaimi Metal Industries offers a complete line of loading dock products to make your loading dock not only safer but more productive and efficient.

Working in technical cooperation with W.B. McGuire Co., Inc., the leading one-source manufacturer of high-quality loading dock equipment, we provide the perfect solutions for every aspect of the modern, safe loading dock. Whether your dock requires mechanical or hydraulic dock levelers, dock seals or shelters, safety vehicle restraints, dock bumpers or accessories, you can be sure of the finest combination of dock equipment available.

Hydraulic Dock Levelers

The Hydraulic Truss Head (HTH) Dock Leveler provides total hydraulic control at the touch of a button. The HTH is one of the best ways to increase efficiency and productivity while at the same time providing safety benefits for loading dock personnel, equipment and the goods being loaded or unloaded

The HTH leveler construction distributes the gross moving load weight of the material-handling vehicle across the entire header and back into the deck structure. This distribution prevents concentrating the stress in any one given area at the lip which increases the risk of damage.

The regenerative hydraulic system of HTH leveler allows full power to the lip, both in and out. This allows auto return to dock level when the trailer departs and automatic lip positioning, with the flip of a switch for below dock end load operation.

The HTH leveler is available in standard sizes (from 6’ to 7’ width and from 6’ to 10’ length) and three standard capacities (25,000 lbs, 30,000 lbs, and 35,000 lbs).

Mechanical Dock Levelers

The Mechanical Truss Head (MTH) Dock Leveler is built for smooth and efficient mechanical operation. This mechanical leveler provides a durable bridge with easy pull chain activation and “walk-down”. The MTH provides unmatched safety benefits for loading dock personnel, equipment and the goods being loaded or unloaded.

The MTH leveler construction distributes the gross moving load weight of the material-handling vehicle across the entire header and back into the deck structure. This decreases the risk of damage to the lip by distributing the stress away from any one given area.

The MTH leveler is available in standard sizes (from 6’ to 7’ width and from 6’ to 10’ length) and three standard capacities (25,000 lbs, 30,000 lbs, and 35,000 lbs)

Safety Barrier Dock Levelers

The Autogard ATG-3000 Safety Barrier Dock leveler helps prevent vehicles from tumbling off the end of a vacant dock. The Autogard features an impressive 8” high, 5/8” thick steel barrier that is hydraulically powered into place as the leveller automatically returns to stored position after use. No other leveler can match the formidable barrier against disaster that the ATG-3000 provides.

The Autogard ATG-3000 Safety Barrier Dock leveler is available in standard sizes (from 6’ to 7’ width and from 6’ to 10’ length) and four standard capacities (35,000 lbs, 45,000 lbs, 60,000 lbs, and 75,000 lbs).

Vertical Storing Dock Levelers

The Vertical Storing Hydraulic Dock Leveler (VSH) is designed for use in climate controlled applications where the overhead door must be kept closed when not in use. The dock leveler is stored in the vertical position behind the overhead door allowing for a complete, energy efficient seal thus minimizing heating and cooling loss. With vertical storing position, the VHS leveler provides easy pit clean-out to the under-deck surface which can be swept, hosed, etc. totally without obstruction.

The VSH leveler is available in standard sizes (from 6’ to 7’ width and from 6’ to 10’ length) and three standard capacities (30,000 lbs, 35,000 lbs, and 45,000 lbs).

Edge-of-Dock

The Edge-of-Dock leveler is ideal for servicing trucks with minimal height difference or where space for standard dock leveler is a problem. Available in Hydraulic or Mechanical operation fashions, our Edge-of-Dock levelers are designed for safety and ease of operation to maximize productivity.

The Hydraulic Edge-of-Dock (HEOD) is the easiest to operate. The Deck and lip raise and extend under full hydraulic control and lip locks to form one unit before automatically lowering to engage floor of truck. The deck and lip return to the stored position when the truck departs from the dock. Lip projects a nominal 12” from face of bumper and works in a range of 5” above and 5” below dock level. The HEOD is available in two standard sizes (6’6” & 7’2” width) and three standard capacities (20,000 lbs, 25,000 lbs, and 30,000 lbs).

The Mechanical Edge-of-Dock (MEOD) is a lever-operated model. It includes removable operating handle and “Lift Free” lifting mechanism in conjunction with ball bearings and torsion spring counterbalance. Leveler automatically returns to stored position upon departure of truck. Working range of leveller is 5” above and 5” below dock level. The MEOD is available in three standard sizes (from 6’6”, 7’2” & 7’8” width) and three standard capacities (20,000 lbs, 25,000 lbs, and 30,000 lbs).

Safety Vehicle Restraints

Truck restraints are devices that latch onto trailers to keep them from separating from the dock during loading/unloading. They are designed to secure an intact and proper ICC bar (rear impact guard) assembly on the truck/trailer rear. Restraint is accomplished by release of unique dual lift arms that have upper arm and hook integrated as one unit. A gas spring provides an upward bias movement of lift arms and insures constant contact to the ICC bar. Operation is either automatic or manual.

The Hydraulic Truck Restraint (HTR) is operated automatically with the use of control panel, and a control/pump enclosure. The safety communication system for HTR consists of continuous flashing red/green strobe lights and two caution signs from outside and a control/pump enclosure with red/green lights and selector switch that allows the lights to automatically change between red and green.

The Mechanical Truck Restraint (MTR) is operated manually with the use of control handle. The safety lighting system for MTR is optional and manually operated.

Operating range for HTR and MTR is from 12” to 30” vertically from grade and a 10” grasping range from the face of a 4” bumper.

Dock Seals and Shelters

Dock seals and shelters are installed to converse energy and to protect against dirt, debris, fumes, pests and harsh elements. They also help decrease the possibility of slips, falls and lift truck skids.

Seals and shelters should be sized to fit all trailers serviced at a particular dock. An improper seal against just one or two trucks per day can make the dock unsafe and less efficient. There are different types of seals and shelters:

- Fixed Head Seals:

Ideal in situations where a tight-fitting seal is required and relatively standard height of truck is being serviced at the dock. The seal consists of three foam-pad sections, two vertical and one horizontal. Each pad section contains a strong core of polyfoam secured to a wood backing and is encapsulated within a tough, long-lasting fabric cover.

- Curtain Head Seals:

These seals have a curtain at the head and are used when dealing with varying height trailers. The seal consists of two vertical side pads and a full-width head curtain. The curtain incorporates a horizontal support member at the top and a weighted edge for stability at the bottom. Grommets and shock cords are provided to secure curtain in position. They are suitable for use on door openings to 3.00 m high.

- Adjustable Head

Seals (counterweighted): Seals of the counterweighted type with steel backed head pad are another approach to sealing a variety of truck heights. These Models consist of three foam pad sections, two vertical side pads and a steel backed head pad which travels vertically between the side pads on welded steel guide truck. The dock attendant can easily adjust the head pad height to conform to the height of incoming trucks.

- Rigid Frame Shelters:

These shelters cover a variety of heights and widths. They are recommended for use on large doors (over 2.70 m wide and / or 3.00 m height), in areas where reduced compression to the building wall is a factor and when servicing trailers with rear step sections. They also allow full access into the trailer where double-wide palletized loads are handled.

- Flexible Frame

Shelters:These shelters have the same features as rigid shelters and are recommended for use over projecting dock platforms.
